Doha: Qatar University (QU) has announced revised minimum admission requirements for its undergraduate programs, with the new criteria set to take effect from the Fall 2027 semester.

    • Qatar University has revised its minimum undergraduate admission requirements effective Fall 2027 (August 2027).
    • The minimum high school average for most colleges will be 75%.
    • The College of Medicine and College of Dental Medicine will continue to require a minimum average of 90%.
    • The College of Pharmacy will maintain its minimum admission requirement of 80%.
    • The new admission standards will not affect students applying before Fall 2027.
    • Achieving the minimum required average does not guarantee admission.
    • The University reaffirmed its commitment to providing guidance and support throughout the admissions process.

Under the updated policy, students applying to most undergraduate colleges at QU will be required to achieve a minimum high school average of 75 percent. The University stated that the changes are part of its ongoing review of admission policies and procedures and are intended to provide students and parents with sufficient time to prepare for future university admission requirements.

The minimum admission average for the College of Medicine and the College of Dental Medicine will remain unchanged at 90 percent, while applicants seeking admission to the College of Pharmacy must continue to meet the existing minimum requirement of 80 percent.

For all other colleges, the minimum admission average has been set at 75 percent.

Qatar University emphasized that meeting the minimum required average does not guarantee admission. Applicants must also fulfill all additional admission requirements, including any standardized tests or specific criteria required by their chosen colleges.

The University clarified that the revised requirements will not affect students applying before the Fall 2027 intake. The early announcement is designed to provide high school students with greater clarity regarding future admission expectations and to help them plan their academic pathways well in advance.

QU reaffirmed its commitment to supporting students and parents throughout the admission process by providing timely information, guidance, and updates through its official communication channels.

The revision reflects Qatar University’s continued efforts to align its admission policies with its academic objectives and educational mission while ensuring transparency and accessibility for prospective students.
