Doha: The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) has inaugurated a state-of-the-art interactive and supportive learning space at Al Hidaya School for Special Needs Primary School for Boys and Girls in Doha, reinforcing Qatar’s commitment to inclusive education and enhanced learning opportunities for students with disabilities.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by HE Minister of Education and Higher Education Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater, along with assistant undersecretaries and senior Ministry officials.
According to MoEHE, the project forms part of its ongoing efforts to enhance educational services for students with disabilities by creating modern, comprehensive learning environments that foster their abilities and enable them to learn, interact and thrive through the latest educational practices.
The Ministry’s Department of Special Education and Inclusive Education supervised the design, development and implementation of the facility and its educational programmes. The learning space has been carefully tailored to meet the sensory and developmental needs of students receiving special education services while maximizing the use of instructional and assistive technologies.
Latifa Saad Al Nuaimi, Principal of Al Hidaya School for Special Needs Primary School for Boys and Girls, said the initiative reflects the school’s firm belief that every student possesses unique talents and abilities that deserve to be nurtured in an educational environment designed to meet their individual needs.
The newly established facilities include an Immersive Reality Room, which recreates real-life experiences through interactive digital technologies to strengthen students’ knowledge, motor skills and communication abilities while making learning more engaging and practical.
The project also features a fully integrated Interactive Sensory Room, designed to provide sensory stimulation and emotional regulation. The adaptable space can be customized to each student’s needs, helping improve attention, concentration, communication, environmental interaction and readiness to participate in classroom activities.
Another key addition is an Ultraviolet Illumination Room, where students can safely participate in guided sensory activities aimed at enhancing visual perception and spatial awareness.
In addition, the school now houses a dedicated Assistive Technology Room equipped with a wide range of modern educational tools, including interactive floor systems and sensory tents that combine movement, exploration and learning to create an engaging educational experience.
MoEHE said the initiative underscores its commitment to strengthening inclusive education and expanding support services for students with disabilities in line with Qatar National Vision 2030, which prioritizes investment in human capital and equitable access to quality education, enabling all members of society to contribute to the nation’s sustainable development.
