Doha: The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MOEHE) has reopened applications for educational vouchers through its “Maarif” public services portal, expanding eligibility criteria to allow more Qatari families to benefit from the initiative.
The move reflects the Ministry’s commitment to extending educational opportunities to the widest possible segment of eligible Qatari students through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project, implemented in partnership with private schools and kindergartens. The initiative enables students to access a range of educational options in accordance with the Ministry’s approved regulations and requirements.
As part of the updated eligibility criteria, the Ministry has increased the maximum actual monthly family income- calculated after deducting all financial obligations- from QAR 25,000 to QAR 35,000, significantly expanding the pool of potential beneficiaries.
The CSR project continues to broaden its support for eligible families. She noted that the initiative currently offers more than 9,000 seats across four categories: fully funded seats, discounted seats, seats for students with disabilities, and seats supported through educational vouchers.
Dr. Rania Mohammed, Director of the Private Schools and Kindergartens Department and Acting Director of the Private Schools Licensing Department at MOEHE.
According to Dr. Rania, approximately 2,400 of these seats are funded through educational vouchers. Under the scheme, eligible parents can enroll their children in participating private schools without paying additional tuition fees, even if the school’s annual tuition exceeds the voucher value of QAR 28,000. The participating schools cover the remaining cost as part of their contribution to the Ministry’s CSR initiative.
She emphasized that “actual family income” refers not simply to the salary shown on an employee’s payslip, but to the family’s remaining income after all financial obligations have been deducted. Applicants are therefore required to submit their original salary certificate along with documents supporting any financial commitments when applying.
Eligible Qatari parents can submit applications electronically through the “Maarif” portal on the Ministry’s website by uploading all required documents to complete the application process and secure a subsidized seat.
